After a very successful album “Wiped Out ” in 2015 a well-known indie rock band The Neighbourhood seemed to lose love of the audience. The band members confessed that they had some problems but they kept working on a new album. There were rare concerts and rare fresh tracks…There were even some rumours that once so popular band could fall apart.
Anyway in March 2018 The NBHD stepped extremely refreshed into music world and besides released the promised album (self-titled). They hope to maintain and grow their audience once again with this album. It is awesome that we can enjoy the band again performing on big stages.
Last Monday The NBHD thrust their fans on a journey through some of their best hits at the Fillmore, in Charlotte!
Merry and unabashed performance of Jess Rutherford helped the band to establish a welcoming vibe with their audience. They alternated between tracks from different albums and time periods. “Afraid”, “You Get Me So High” and “24/7” opened the concert. Then came “Crybaby”, “Heaven”, “Void”, “Daddy Issues” and “Wiped Out” which induced the most enthusiasm of the evening. Of course it can’t be without “Sweater Weather”, “R.I.P. 2 My Youth” , “Scary Love” from album 2018.
The band finished strong and the audience managed to sway along as it was the last song of the night. Rutherford wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet, as he capped off the night hurling himself into the audience for a crowd surf following “Stuck With Me.”
One could tell from the moment they played their first song that The Neighbourhood truly cares about connecting with their fans. Throughout the show, the band made many motions to ask how their audience was doing and Rutherford even stuck around to snap a few pictures with fans outside the venue after the show.
Throughout the show, Rutherford danced back and forth across the stage repetitively, which engaged the audience but visibly tired him out towards the end of the evening. This made The Neighbourhood’s performance a rewarding experience, and the band still worth seeing live!
